Run For Your Knives

from Minor's

The Culinary Institute of America holds a number of events to support the development of our young culinarians. A recent event was called “Run for Your Knives.” It was a 5K run for current students and alumni held in conjunction with the CIA’s homecoming weekend that featured a number of other events.

This particular event was a big one for the students, though, as there were approximately $30,000 worth of scholarships awarded to those in attendance. The scholarships, ranging from $500 to $5000, were donated by a variety of companies and professionals including food and equipment manufacturers, as well as well-known chefs and restaurants.

One of the winners—in a fortuitous twist—was a student who had completed an externship at the Nestlé ProfessionalTM Customer Innovation Campus in 2013! He’s now back at the CIA working on his Bachelor of Professional Studies in Culinary Science and hopes to someday return to Nestlé Professional and continue his discovered passion for developing recipes and helping guide the food of tomorrow.

It was a great day and a great event supporting the students of the CIA!
